Finding a literary agent
Finding a literary agent I touched briefly in one of my other articles, but? S something that deserves a little 'more attention. Whether you are for the first time that a writer or has been previously published, the issue of introducing an agent is always. I hope to help answer this question by following three simple steps. Step 1? Determining whether an agent is required. The answer depends entirely on what kind of work you have and what you do. For example, if you? I wrote a short story, poem, or article, an agent is not necessary. If you? Ve written a novel, find an agent, you should refer to the list of things to consider. Phase 2? Make sure that the material is ready for an agent, whether you? Ve decided you need an agent, your next step should be to ensure your equipment is in order. If you? Re an author, you can probably go with the presentation of part of the manuscript, and perhaps an overview of the rest. An author who did not read at this point is the article. If you? Re a new or unknown author, then you must replace the entire manuscript, if it is fiction. Non-fiction writers can only be kept for a few chapters and an overview. Step 3? The search for an agent. Get in the right frame of mind. An agent to find and the search for an agent that is on the page are two different things. If I were a car from a dealer, I would like to know where his two hands at all times. With this said, you can use for an agent, as it is for others, references from friends or colleagues that have been published, the Inteet and reference books. Both? S first look at the Inteet. There are many web sites, that the lists of agents and in most cases, their qualifications, but also for the purpose of this short article, I? Ll just great. The Association of Artists? Representatives (AAR), link this, because if your work is important, and you? Research, the name of an agent? And on you mainstream? Ll want to check if he or she is a member of this organization. There are also books you can read the help in the search. A quick search on Google or a search on a major book sites, many possibilities, and, as usually access the Inteet for research, is that possible? T remember that I have a book? M familiar enough with to recommend. I did a quick search for literary agents in the Amazon and came with some good opportunities. Some say that it is better to use the guide printed in the search for agents, the Inteet lists, because they are often bloated with the public the list of items. I can understand the conce that so? Ll say, with your opinion here. A word of waing: This is the part I hate to write this article. Unfortunately the world we live in today is less than perfect. There are people that we call agents, persons who are legitimate in the profession, but little or nothing about them. I recommend, in this article some of the things that one? Red flag? when seeking representation. I? Ll briefly go over some of the obvious desire. Fees in advance: Reading taxes, fees or handling of the submission, evaluation, and charges should not be considered normal. No matter how someone labels you a fee, a fee, legitimate, representative and do not require a. Selling Additional Services: Some positions are in collaboration with other providers of services such as web designers and marketing specialists and will seek these services. Please note that your work, to be published, you do not need these services and you should be? T will be asked to pay for them. Any attempt by an agent to you to sign up for additional services, the fees should inform you that you should perhaps elsewhere. Legitimate agents percentage (10 to 15%) of what they can convince a publisher to pay. Each agent contact you should have a proven track record and references available. Even if an agent is new, you must verify that he or she has at least a background in publishing. Editors know who is out and a new name, with uncontrollable production of documents don? T with a lot of weight. If it is decided that the principal is a literary agent is in your interest, follow the guidelines here will help in your search. In this way, a little 'mandates of research and testing, you should have a good relationship with your broker. Remember, an eye for fraud as you before you sign another contract.
