Discipline is not a four letter word

Discipline is not a four letter word If I am going to write an article for my newsletter, write success, and create a vacuum, to write, I read my ezine mission statement for guidance: "Ideas, information and inspiration for writers, l 'start and / or maintenance SUCCESS professions "in this article covered by me:" What is the most important characteristic that a successful writer needs to be free? "The answer came to me with the speed of light. We must discipline.Repeat after me: When it comes to free-lance writing, the most important characteristic needed for success is discipline. Bummer, eh? The word "discipline" hardly sends a researcher at the keyboard or the search for the pen in a heady, heated burst of inspiration. Would not have been great, even romantic, if I had said that the authors are of gold, a rare gene, with only a select few are qualified? Or that, in order to succeed, we need to intervene in our personal muse? Follow our invitation? Develop the talent given by God, that is our legacy? Ok, maybe not. Perhaps the thought I would say, "talent", "skills", "power of observation", "fantasy" or even "self-awareness." Why talent certainly helps, and the ability to write so clear, powerful, creative and / or short is important. Even after the rejection, or especially then, we must believe in ourselves enough to try again and again. And the best writers are not only watching, but seem to absorb * the world around them, then put these comments in articles, short stories, screenplays and poems. But without discipline, all the talent, confidence, creativity and ability in the world won 't be published. I heard that you can almost say, "Okay, Mom, I have your number" (followed by a roll of the eyes and an expression that says: "Now get off my back, okay ?!"). And maybe it's like the word discipline has its bad reputation, in the first place - from the mother, or other authority figures in our lives. In fact, "discipline" has a somewhat 'negative loop is not it? It reminds us that in our room when we were children, from school or detention, or a waing by our chef at work. And yes, this happens to a definition of discipline - "the treatment, correction or punishment" - but in my trusty Webster's New World Dictionary, this is not the true definition. In reality, it is listed at number five! Discipline means primarily "the training provided to select a specific character or patte of behavior, especially training that produces moral or mental improvement." It is not that what we really want writers to develop the habit of writing every day, the presentation and pursue our dream set to write forever? Constantlyhone for our skills and our success? In this context, the framework is our ally, not our enemy. While our imagination can give us idle dreams and distract our observations, loss or entertain us, our discipline is the one characteristic that affects us in our goals daydreaming, and our observationsinto finished writing. Here 's letter to the your success!
