Tapping into the wells of characters

Tapping into the wells of characters I believe that the best fiction is the engine. Plotlines are of secondary importance, because if we are not on the characters and the drama that takes place around them fails to arouse our interest. This division is artificial, because in a good story plot is a consequence of a writer to understand the true nature protagonists. The adventure is an invitation to them that they need, or merit, so that both are intertwined. How do we hope to reach an understanding of our characters and their fate, while in front of the first page blank (I hope) or novel story? The prospect is less daunting when we realize that we do not need to know our heroes and villains at the beginning. We need a starting point and an overview of distance, or a first date, if desired. The project is our "know" period. We are not married to our characters until the second draft, and even then is used to describe the literature I divorce.Allow two sources where I used to go to fill my buckets of character inspiration.1. Alter-egosI'm written on this Halloween, the night when children and adults were allowed to dress up and take people adopted. Many of them are very zealous on the lives of their alteate identities, which often conflict with their daily lives. A large part of Halloween comes from the freedom that we must let our alter-ego to speak with a night.I 'm usually a calm discipline (but ambitious) and a writer in love father. But there is a showman that pain inside me to be on stage crooning and gyrating like Jim Morrison. My auto-exhibitionist loves heavy metal, grunge, punk rock and psychadelic. He insisted that I make music a central part of my first novel, and I realized that even the lyrics. In a coer of my mind, there is a geek who could easily spend days in the library or on the computer, surfing the Inteet. He made some fortuitous and unexpected contributions to my book, including characters such as a city of the Father shot amateur chemistry and a diplomat and interpreter of life in a tribal culture. Another character, a young woman with a passion for history and literature who is also the Pan-pipes, was the result of "collaboration" between the two secrets of my psyche mine.If your alter-ego, is may find that they have incredible stories to tell. The evidence of their existence can be achieved by examining your hobbies, your taste in casual reading, and even your dreams. Isolate these figures and give them the opportunity to speak their mind. May your pen hand are struggling to keep with them before long.2. DreamsWhen we dream jouey through the landscape of our rich inner world. Our beliefs and deepest feelings are personified and given voice. During the day of our inner monologue operates continuously, our thoughts and influence us in this way and that. We do a myriad of small and large decisions, and our motives are as varied as our own choices. In our dreams, the collision of our thoughts and belief systems is seen as a strange drama. This center is intended to perform a reflection of our spiritual condition. Archetypal psychology has changed the system of gestalt, that patients who engage in active dialogue with their dreams.Writing data can be a form of Gestalt, poetry, novel or short story to serve the same function as the dream. Therefore, the figures that you encounter when you sleep, may provide another source of inspiration for the characters. Dream entities are similar to our own literary creations, both represent parts of ourselves, but at the same time, they are more or different than what we are. These are the seeds of their identity to us, but then take off and evolve in unexpected - such as children differ from their parents footsteps. For this reason I believe that spontaneity is of the utmost importance in all forms of creative writing. Begin my novels or stories with the design of my characters naked, and then give them the space to get in themselves. May you find that your characters inevitably do so, and his plan of care becomes superfluous the third chapter of your book. Then dive into your home for the good of your first impressions will be the main actors in your story. Then to find their feet as write.I you 'll find parenting analogy with this observation, we want the best for our characters, but we are unable to plan their lives.Seth Mullins is the author the "song Desert, "a novel of speculative fantasy in lawless frontier.
